Imani Science and Tech Camp
Week 1 & 2 June 3-7 June 10-14
STEM/Engineering &Simple Machines (2 Weeks)
Children have a natural curiosity that lends itself to science, technology, math, and engineering. Let us inspire your child to build on his innate desire for answers by exploring engineering concepts in a fun, hands-on way. Campers will hone their critical thinking and problem solving skills through interactive activities. Our curriculum is designed to present kids with challenging yet accessible engineering activities from which they can learn and grow.
Week 3 & 4 June 17-21 June 24-28
Game Design (2 Weeks)
Introduction to Scratch Coding (Animation for Gaming)
In the world of video games, animation is incredibly important. All modern video games require the logical, script-based art of animation to present stories and game play. An introductory approach to these concepts can be explored using Scratch 2.0, a block-logic programming interface designed for children. This brief course aims at introducing the basic concepts of animation, offering examples that can be discussed and modified. The final project of the course is to create a simple animation to share with others, hopefully inspiring participants to begin a portfolio of projects.
Week 5 July 1-5
Come explore all things Lego! Giving campers the gift of learning through play! Let’s build Amusement Parks, dream homes, space ships, robots and more! Campers will enjoy using LEGO® Bricks to build specially-designed Bricks 4 Kidz models, play LEGO® games and explore the world of engineering, architecture and animated movie-making.
Week 6 July8-12
Our kitchen makes a great laboratory! Learn about chemistry and biology topics as you explore there. Make homemade dough that can be played with and eaten! It is fully edible, and can be squished, rolled, and shaped. Learn how hot cocoa powder becomes hot chocolate with a yummy experiment and much more.
Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Calling all Thespians! Our Performing Arts Camp specializes in developing individual artistry and the student as a whole. Our focus is on training students and providing them with tools which can be utilized in theater and life experiences. Campers will have the chance to explore a wide variety of areas—musical theater, improv and dance, to name a few—while they gain confidence and improve their skills.
Heart For Art - Come enjoy some great art making with our beloved Ms. Minor. Our curriculum is art history based and provides authentic hands on experiences in painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, and sculpture. The program concludes with an art exhibit for family and friends.
