Mayor Parker to visit Imani
Still adjusting to her new role as CEO of Houston, the Honorable Annise Parker pauses briefly from her busy schedule to speak to middle school students at The Imani School.
Mayor Parker is set to appear at The Imani School at 1 p.m. on March 25. Her visit kicks off the 2nd season of the "Inspiring Young Minds Lecture Series."
In its inaugural season, the series yielded speakers like former Council Member Ronald Green and former FBI Chief Andrew Bland who advised students about planning, preparation and perseverance.
Parker was first elected to the city council 11 years ago in an at-large seat. She continued working for the city in that capacity until she was elected City Controller, which she served as for the last five years. She spent 20 years in the oil and gas industry before entering public service.
