Planning, purpose and perseverance are just some of the topics covered by Houston City Council Member Ronald Green when he addressed middle school students at an assembly on March 4.

Mr. Green conveyed to students the importance of planning - particularly at their age. An alumnus of Houston Independent School District's High School for Health Professions, Mr. Green said initially he aspired to become a physician. While planning for a career in the medical field, Mr. Green discovered his passion for law, which he has parlayed into a successful career as a trial lawyer.

The native Houstonian is an active community partner, who was first elected to city council in At-Large Position Four in 2003. In 2005, he was re-elected with 100 percent of the vote. He holds a bachelor's and MBA from the University of Houston as well as a juris doctor from Texas Southern University's Thurgood Marshall School of Law. He is a founding partner of The Green Firm, LLP.

Mr. Green is married to Judge Hilary Harmon Green, Justice of the Peace, Harris County Precinct 7, Place 1. The Greens have one son and are active members at Windsor Village United Methodist Church.
