Sick Policy

Keeping our children healthy is a matter of great importance to all of us. The staff follows strict procedures regarding sanitation, diaper changing, etc. to help prevent the spread of infections. However, we need your help. Please do not send ill (i.e. diarrhea, fresh cold, vomiting, fever, etc.) children to school. When your child has been absent or sent home due to illness or fever, he/she cannot return to school until he/she hs been without fever for 24 hours or is accompanied by a doctor's note.

Children with any of the following symptoms will not be permitted to attend school should any of the following exist:

  • Armpit temperature of 99.4 degrees
  • Signs of possible severe illness (lethargy, uncontrolled breathing, 3 loose bowel movements), vomiting illness (2 or more episodes in 24 hours)
  • Rash with fever or mouth sores with drooling
  • Any type of communicable disease
  • He/she hs begun taking antibiotics in the last 12 hours

If any of the above symptoms are observed while the child is in school, the parents will be contacted and asked immediately to pick up the child to avoid infecting other children.

Note: Staff will be sure to note any child that does not exhibit his/her "typical" behavior, making certain to closely monitor the child's appetite, sleep habits, coughing spells and overall participation in the program.

Biting Policy

Once the staff has identified the child as a biter, there are certain precautions and measures that must be implemented immediately to ensure the safety and well-being of all the children. Please adhere to the following:

  2. Shadow the biter to reduce the biting opportunities.
  3. Isolate the biter from the group when necessary.
  4. Document all biting attempts and successes.
  5. Determine severity of biting episodes and conference with child's parents if necessary.
  6. Request child's parents to observe the child in the school setting to help resolve matter.
  7. If parent involvement does not prove effective, temporarily remove child  from school environment.
  8. ALL CASES HANDLED ON INDIVIDUAL BASIS
